About the Event

Leave the city, stay in the bay

BREAKOUT is a small, intimate tango gathering set in Kabak Bay, the quietest corner of Fethiye. Neither a huge festival nor a tightly scheduled marathon — an escape where the sea, the forest and the music set the rhythm of the day.

After breakfast we walk down to the bay, rest in the shade in the afternoon, and dance on the wooden floor in the cool of the evening. Capacity is deliberately kept small: a group where everyone gets to know each other and no one gets lost in the crowd.

Venue

Turan Hill Lounge, Kabak Bay

Kabak Bay is about 25 km from Fethiye, where a valley just beyond Faralya opens to the sea. Turan Hill Lounge sits on the slope of that valley: wooden bungalows, trails through the forest and a wide terrace overlooking the bay.

Getting there: about 1 hour 45 minutes from Dalaman Airport, 50 minutes from central Fethiye. The final descent into Kabak is steep and winding; a shuttle can be arranged on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much tango experience do I need?
BREAKOUT is a social-dancing weekend; at least one year of tango experience is required. The milongas run from evening into the night, so you should be comfortable with the basics, the embrace and moving with the flow of the floor.
What is the accommodation like?
Wooden bungalows and rooms at Turan Hill Lounge; single, double and shared options are available. You state your preference on the registration form and rooms are assigned in order of registration.
How do I get there by plane?
The nearest airport is Dalaman (DLM), about 1 hour 45 minutes by road from Kabak Bay; 50 minutes from Fethiye centre, following the winding road towards Faralya after Ölüdeniz. Bodrum (BJV) and Antalya (AYT) are alternatives but around 4 hours away. The final descent to Kabak is steep and winding, so we suggest booking a flight that lands during daylight.
Is there an airport transfer?
Yes. Tick the transfer box on the registration form and we will add you to the list and arrange a shared transfer around flight times; details and cost follow by e-mail after registration. A shuttle can also be arranged for the final descent to Kabak.
Is there parking if I drive?
Yes. Turan Hill Lounge has its own car park; if you drive you can leave your car there for the whole event at no extra charge. The road after Faralya is narrow and winding and the final stretch is steep, so we suggest arriving in daylight, leaving the car at the venue and walking down to the bay.
Can I come without a partner?
Yes. We track the leader/follower balance in registrations and open a waiting list if needed.
How do I pay?
After we receive your registration we send payment details by e-mail. A deposit is required to confirm your place.
What is the cancellation policy?
For cancellations more than 30 days before the event, everything except the deposit is refunded. No refunds in the last 30 days, but you may transfer your place to someone else.
What should I bring?
Dance shoes, swimwear, a light jacket (evenings get cool), a torch and comfortable shoes for walking.
